Hi Joshua,Welcome to the openlab! I wntaed to make sure that you are in the right place if you’re in my Calc II (MAT 1575) course, then you’ve joined the wrong class, since this site is for my MAT 1275 class (which hasn’t met yet). For MAT 1575, go here instead: Feel free to reply to this comment if you have any questions,Mr. ReitzJuly 26, 2014 at 3:14 am #6434
Dear Akanksha,See, if you have been reading NCERT books then I am pttery sure that you have done basic groundwork and revised basics learnt at school level. It is time now, that you embarked on a professional approach towards the exam. Whether you’ll be able to clear Prelims in 2013 completely depends on your aptitude, level of effort put and quality time invested in preparation.Even in case you do not wish to appear in 2013 but only in 2014, you must start preparing now.Regards,Rau’s IASAugust 23, 2014 at 10:58 pm #19135February 19, 2015 at 2:18 pm #110921
Dear Niyme,If you want to appear in Civil Services Exam, I sggseut you start by understanding the format and pattern of this exam. Download the detailed IAS overview and syllabus from and go through the document to understand this process. Thereafter, once you know what the examination looks like, you can initiate training/coaching in this area to equip yourself with the requisite knowledge base to do well in this exam.Regards,Rau’s IASMarch 23, 2015 at 7:37 pm #121938
Dear Subho,1) The reason why sceicne subjects are usually not opted in Civil Services Exam is because of their high difficulty level. But, you should certainly opt for Zoology since you are an M.Sc in the area (and therefore will be able to handle Zoology paper easily). If you are equivalently good at Botany, then you may opt for it as your second optional. However, if you are not, and will have to spend a lot of time picking up the subject, then there are alternatives available (Public Ad, Geography) which are scoring, successful and also help in General Studies.2) No, UPSC has no preference for any stream and does not discriminate against any subject. By the way, sceicne subjects are as old and traditional as any other Humanities subjects (Computer Science which is one of the latest addition to the sceicne arena is not part of the UPSC’s list of subjects:). If you feel that your level of competence is high and enough to handle the higher difficulty level of your sceicne subjects according to UPSC’s pattern (try to solve Civil Services 10 years question papers in your subject to check your comfort level), then go for it!! All the best,Rau’s IASApril 18, 2015 at 7:05 pm #137843

Unquestionably believe that which you said. Your favorite reason seemed to
be on the internet the simplest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I certainly get annoyed while people
consider worries that they plainly do not know
about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and also defined out the whole thing
without having side-effects , people could take a signal.
Will likely be back to get more. Thanks
